I Wanna Live
This is the only commercial song on this CD(it has
been Ecki especially written for Ecki, who promised to accept 50CDs, if he
can play at least one guitar solo on any Track).
[I tried to give a touch of ´Grunge´
to that number, because we both like that style.]
Bad Start
I had this song recorded before on 4 track, but the
result was not, what I expected. This new version is definitelymore, what
I had in mind. (probably the Blur).
1600 Miles
Maybe, a little exaggerated!It was only about100
Miles and I was away only for 2 weeks. Anyway, I was glad being athome again
and that is, what inspired the song.
Awake Your Body
Nobody specific in mind. But I used to havean office
with a view to the street, where sometimes pretty girls passedbye...
It´s A Shame
For Julia! I wrote the song the day afterwe met
in the English Garden. Originally there was no programming, justtwo guitars,
one base (pitched guitar) and the vocals. I added the drums, when I remixed
the song on harddisk.
Dr. Wertham
This song is character spoiling, just as Dr.Wertham´s
essay was character
spoiling the media comic. Eye for an eye!
Camels
This song is for you, Christian (and for allother
relapsing smokers)!
All Gone
This is the oldest song on the CD and it wasthe
first song, I was proud of. Here you hear the original recording withsome
gimmicks, added during mixing on HD.
Mike, I hope you like the re-mix!
Higher
This was one of the first two songs, I didon harddisk,
because it has a rather simple structure. It has been previouslyrecorded
on 4-track. Harddisk recording allowed experimenting with differentdistorted
guitars and mighty hall effects.
Lack Of Knowledge
Not autobiographical - the teacher never gotme!
Out Of The Question
This song has always been a reference songto me.
It is one of my favorites from the 60´s. The Seeds, featuringSky Saxon,
played the stunning original. I use this song to compare myown songs with
my version of "Out Of The Question" and in return comparemy version of the
song with the original one. This helps me locating weaknessesin my work.
My 4-track version had
awful vocals. The harddisk version is better, but
there are still a lot of things to improve.
The following tracks have been originally recorded on 4-Track and no additional tracks have been added for the CD version:
Liar
I confess! This song was born at times, Iwas listening
much of the Sisters of Mercy, waiting for their next CD tocome. I am still
waiting! This gives Liar some status of a obituary.
All Gone (original mix)
This is the original song, without any additional
gimmicks.
You can here the long breaks between the singleparts
of the song.
They are the reason for the re-mix (and thefact,
that the song was too long).
No Friends
This was never a song! I used it, continuouslyrunning,
to do my first steps with an electric guitar. It is only 4 barsfrom the song
´No Friend Of Mine´ by the Sparkles (another60´s band),
re-sampled from A down to E (without any kind of permission, but full of respect
for that great stuff) and some drum beats added forbetter keeping track,
when playing.
[After some hours of guitar practicing, Ifound some
guitar licks, I wanted to put on tape. I added the glass-smashingintro and
recorded the stuff. I had two tracks, to record my guitar playon, keeping
always the better one, but I never got it right, the way, Ihad played before.
Finally, in my frustration I mixed both guitar trackstogether and found it
does not sound too bad. So I kept the record.]
In The Mirror
This is the first real song with support ofan Electric
Guitar (Fender Stratocaster) and the Yamaha DD-11 (Thank youStefan!).
[As far as I remember, the song does not baseon
experiences after a drunken night - but then, who remembers nights likethis.]
Idiot
Driving over Germany´s Autobahn, youmeet a
lot of idiots. Some of them are drunk, too.
Digi
For all Amiga fans!
This little song experiment is entirely playedby
the Amiga´s internal sound channels.
[I am still fascinated by the bass sounds, the Amiga
was able to produce. The bass of this song later made it´sway into
the song "In The Mirror", too.]
